PRACTICE
Amir H. Jahanguiri is a partner in the Corporate & Financial Services Department of the firm, focusing on structured finance and project development and finance. Amir’s expertise covers the development and financing of energy and infrastructure projects, public infrastructure projects and complex multi-tranched corporate and hybrid bank and capital markets debt financings.
Amir has for the past 24 years advised host governments, regulators, sponsors, contractors, off-takers, export credit agencies and lenders on projects in the transport and social/public infrastructure sectors, including seaports, roads, tunnels, airports, railways, hospitals and prisons, among others. He also advises on major projects in the water, power, petrochemical, industrial and metals, and mining sectors, mainly in Europe, North and Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle-East. Additionally, he has been actively involved in recent years advising large French corporations in structured debt financing transactions.
Amir was named “Lawyer of the Year” in Project Development and Finance in France for 2021 by Best Lawyers/Les Echos. He is ranked as a Leading Individual in his field by Legal 500 (2020) and in Band 2 by Chambers Europe (2020) in the Projects & Energy: International: Finance category. Chambers has highlighted that Amir "enjoys a brilliant reputation in the market, particularly for the finance aspects of PFI/PPP work," that he is praised for "technical and negotiating qualities that allow all parties to reach fair, intelligent and well-balanced deals" and for being an "experienced and sharp lawyer with a deep knowledge of infrastructure development topics".

Prior to joining Willkie, Amir was a partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in Paris.

EDUCATION
Mr. Jahanguiri received a Diplôme d’Etudes Supérieures Spécialisées (post-graduate degree) in corporate law and a Diplôme de Juriste-Conseil d’Entreprise from the University of Cergy-Pontoise in 1995, a maîtrise (masters) in corporate law from the University of Paris-II in 1994, and an LLM from University College, London in 1994.
